Information we collect
Khali can be used as a guest or with an optional Apple or Google account. The information collected depends on how you use the app.

Account information: account identifier, email address, and name made available by Apple or Google when you sign in.
•
Guest identifier: a random identifier stored on your device so guest preferences can persist.
•
Preferences and interactions: topic settings, votes, story interactions, and similar product activity used to operate and improve the feed.
•
Questions you submit: question text and the related story context are processed to generate an answer. For signed-in users, questions and answers may be retained with the account.
•
Technical information: standard network and device information processed by our service providers when the app connects to them.
•
Website analytics: on Khali web pages, Vercel Web Analytics processes anonymized page URL, referrer, query, approximate location, browser, operating system, and device information to measure visits without cookies.
How we use information

Provide the news feed, account features, settings, voting, and question-answering features.
•
Remember preferences and personalize or improve story ordering.
•
Protect the service, diagnose failures, and prevent abuse.
•
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Service providers
Khali uses service providers to operate the app and website. These currently include Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and server functions; OpenAI for question answering and content processing; Vercel for website hosting and anonymized web analytics; Apple and Google for optional sign-in; and media or news-source providers for story content. Their processing is governed by their own terms and privacy notices.
Retention and deletion
We retain information only as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, protect it, and meet legal obligations. Signed-in users can delete their account from Settings. Account deletion removes the account and associated user records handled by Khali. Guest data stored locally is removed when the app is deleted or its storage is cleared.
Your choices

Change topic, audio, and caption preferences in Settings.

Delete a signed-in account from Settings.
